ABOUT
We established the George Daskarolis Foundation (GDF) in August 1999 to honor the memory of George Daskarolis, a consummate, passionate, and life-long educator in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In September 2004, inspired by the extraordinary philanthropy of Oral Lee Brown, the GDF "adopted" a class of twenty first-grade students from Ascend School in the Fruitvale district of Oakland.
Our goal is to support our students through their senior year of high school by offering tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities, and by encouraging their hard work and commitment to attend college. By the time our students graduate from high school, we hope to have raised sufficient funds to offer each of them a full college scholarship.
The larger goal of the GDF is to support future classes and to inspire, encourage, and engage others in the world to do the same. We believe that every child, given support to grow and thrive, can discover and develop his or her particular brilliance, creativity, talents, and character.
We invite you to join our growing numbers in creating and empowering a larger community force serving one child, one class, one neighborhood, one community at a time.
Thank you for visiting our site. If you feel inspired to do so, please consider going to our Donation page now and making a secure online donation to the GDF today.
