Board Of Directors Position Announcement
TERM BEGINS AUGUST, 2011
The mission of The George Daskarolis Foundation (GDF) is to provide ongoing educational opportunities, including scholarships to help fund college tuition. Currently, we serve a class of students at Ascend School in Oakland, California.
The George Daskarolis Foundation (GDF) is guided by three key objectives:
1. GDF seeks to support our students through their senior year of high school by offering tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment opportunities, and by encouraging their hard work and commitment to attend college.
2. GDF seeks to raise sufficient funds to offer each of the students participating in GDF a full college scholarship.
3. GDF seeks to support future students and to inspire, encourage, and engage others in the world to do the same.
We believe that every child, given support to grow and thrive, can discover and develop his or her particular brilliance, creativity, talents, and character. We invite you to join our growing numbers in creating and empowering a larger community force serving one child, one class, one neighborhood, one community at a time.
The George Daskarolis Foundation seeks two dynamic leaders to join our seven-member Board of Directors. Each board member volunteers four to six hours/month in support of GDF, including a two-hour Board Meeting 12 times each year. Each member serves as GDF ambassador to the community, supporting the mission of the organization through fundraising and advocacy.
We are looking to expand our impact on our students in the coming year, and are committed to ongoing learning and organizational development. If this excites you, please read on.
